Luca E. Lum (b. 1991, Singapore) is an artist and writer considering relationships between time and notions of the inhuman through lens based media, writing, drawing, and installation. Of particular interest is the regulation of the ghost, and the twined histories of animals and machines. In her practice, she veers between vulnerable self-disclosure and an almost clinical analysis. The technological, semiotic and informational recur in her work as material, erotics, and predicament.
Her work has been supported by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Delfina Foundation, NTU Center for Contemporary Art Singapore, among others. Her writing has appeared in cthulhu books, Nang Magazine, the Asian Film Archive, and the online platform of the National Gallery Singapore.
She holds an MS in Art, Culture, and Technology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelors in English Literature from the National University of Singapore.
