head without a body downstream is a commissioned piece of writing for Boring Donkey Songs, a collection of  writings by the late Singaporean performance artist Lee Wen. It is written in twin-city poetic form, where the lines are simultaneously read across and downwards.

The poem reflects on notions of inheritance as a younger artist who also engaged with performance and was acquainted with Lee, sometimes receiving and exchanging random facebook messages with him.

The poem also considers the artist's life and practice as a seminal  masculine figure in the scene who resisted and at times embodied the complex paternalisms of the city state.
